Barra
Vieja
Barra Vieja is several kilometers
long and between 50 and 110 meters wide,
depending where you are. It has fine
light gray sand, and because it is on
the open ocean its waves are continuous
and can be from regular to strong. There
are several businesses located close to
the beach where you can enjoy seafood,
such as the famous and typical "pescado
a la talla" and "mexican food". You can
rent horses and take a tour around this
beach. Also located close by is Tres
Palos Lagoon, where you can rent boats
to take an ecological tour. |

Caleta
Y Caletilla
These beaches became the center of
fun for both the national and
international film stars during the 50's
and 60's. They are protected naturally
by Roqueta Island which does not allow
the strong currents of the Pacific to
pass through, and giving these beaches
gentle waves and shallow waters, ideal
for the family. |

Condesa
Strategically located in the middle
of the bay and in the heart of the
golden zone. This privileged location
makes it the nerve center of the bay,
and they say this is the perfect spot to
find your partner. It has strong waves
and its sand is medium to thin. In front
of this beach is the Bishop's Rock, a
small rocky formation that emerges from
the sea where you can often admire large
quantities of sea birds. |

Guitarron
These beaches are located at the
foot of rocky formations surrounded by
abundant vegetation and beautiful
vacation homes. |

Hornitos
This is the where the local
fishermen work. They leave very early in
the morning, spreading their net and

You can spend a very nice afternoon
with your friends and family on this
beach and enjoy a game of miniature
golf. The sand is fine and the waves are
gentle. It is very common to see many
seagulls and pelicans looking for their

This is one of Acaulco's largest
beaches located close to the Navy Base
where you can enjoy different types of
waves that range from soft to regular,

Isla de
La Roqueta
A typical tour for tourists is the
visit to Roqueta Island on the
glass-bottom boats which allows you to
see the great variety of marine species
that exist in the bay and also to admire
the submerged image of the Virgin of the
Seas, patron saint of the fishermen,
located close to the rocky island called
La Yerbabuena. Roqueta Island is located
in the ocean at the entrance of the bay
and has charming beaches on the Northern
side and a lighthouse on the top. |

Angosta

You can practice snorkeling. There are
small restaurants offering fresh seafood

Pie de
La Cuesta
This beach is internationally known
for its spectacular sunsets. It is
located 10 kms. Northeast of Acapulco.
It is on the open ocean and its waves
are exceptionally strong and tumultuous.
It is a very long beach and between 60
and 80 meters wide. Its sand is a fine
being color. It sometimes becomes the
normal route of whales and dolphins,
making this beach an incredible
spectacle. It is the ideal place to
admire the famous sunset. |

Puerto
Marques
This bay receives its name because
it is located in the bay of Puerto
Marques, Southeast of Acapulco and
because Hernan Cortes possesses the
title of Marques. It is made up of
Pichilingue and Puerto Marques beaches.
This area is characterized for its
abundant vegetation, and has gentle
waves and soft sand. It is excellent for
all types of water sports. There are
also residential areas and exclusive
hotels in this area. |

Punta
Diamante
This spot forms part of the new
concept of Acapulco's Grand Tourism that
encompasses great construction projects
of important tourist complexes. There
are a series of beautiful beaches of
soft sand and strong waves that face the
open ocean, making it necessary to use
extreme precaution while practicing
water sports. |

Tamarindos
This is a very popular beach for
both locals and tourists. Its sand is
fine with gentle waves. There are many
palm trees on this beach that offer
shade to this area. You can watch the
fishmermen preparing the morning catch
after pulling in the net. |
